Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Giana Luna was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her songwriting style is a blend of pop and folk. Her lyrics read like her diary, which are wrapped in pop melodies over arrangements varying from acoustic folk-pop, to synthy, dreamy pop. She loves exploring with layering vocals and harmonies. Her style is often compared to Dodie, Emily Kinney, and Taylor Swift.
From 2014-2017, Giana was signed to a local music label and released an EP, a Christmas single, and an album. After going independent, she released an EP in 2018. For personal and professional reasons, all of this music has been erased from the internet. However, Giana has performed her music in states along the East Coast (NY, NJ, PA, DL, and WV), and her music has received local and internet radioplay since 2014.
Giana is both a formally trained and self-taught musician. In addition to eight years of piano lessons, she's taught herself how to sing and play the ukulele and guitar. In 2021, she picked up bass and drums for her residency at Howl at the Moon.
In July of 2022, Giana launched the Shoujo Sundae podcast with her co-host Chika Supreme, where they review shoujo (or shojo) anime and films. Each episode of anime is broken down into categories to reflect on the symbolism, positive/negative aspects, and hot takes of each show they review. Episodes are released on Sundays on a bi-weekly basis.
Currently, Giana is a full-time band member at Howl at the Moon. The show is an all-request dueling piano format. She performs everything from Alanis Morissette to Cardi B - whatever the audience requests! When she's not at the piano, Giana jumps on backline on drums, bass, backing vocals, guitar, or keytar.
"Twilight Champagne", Giana's debut single, was released on August 31st, 2023. It is available for streaming on all music platforms, and also available for free download or purchase on Bandcamp. She hopes to release a full debut album before the end of 2025 - ideally in 2024
